STILL STAYCATIONING

Well despite the same old disappointing weather and rip-off prices that Irish people are complaining of, they are still staying at home this year for their holidays. As we are in the height of the holiday season, a new survey has announced that 63% of Irish peope are spending their annual break at home this year.  Favourite destinations are Glaway, Kerry, Cork, Donegal, Wexford and Dublin.  And the majority of people are opting to stay in hotels, instead of other options such as self-catering or guesthouses. So what does that tell us? There has to be bargains out there to tempt people away from the traditional sun-spots.  Maybe the fact that the tour operators are not dropping their prices for foreign holidays and the fact that airports have become a nightmare step on the path to a vacation have both something to do with it.  Good on the Irish hotels for putting some realistic packages together. If only the sun would be kind!
