- Well it is the hottest boutique hotel in town!
- Unique ‘Dylan Experience’ service
- Affluent south-city centre location.
A visit to this luxury hotel was one striking journey into contemporary Dublin life. How this city has developed over the past two decades with outstanding hotels and restaurants as we enter 2010
And how buzzing Dylan hotel is!
This is certainly the place to see and be seen. Familiar faces from the fashion and entertainment scene are mingling with the ‘hot and happening’ crowd in this exclusive hotel. But what strikes us first of all is the incredible design. This is a fusion of traditional and contemporary, the like of which I have never encountered before. Colours are black and burgundy and shapes and textures are strikingly different. The chairs are something else!
ACCOMMOATION AT DYLAN
There are just 44 unique bedrooms at this hotel. But first our bedroom. We had all the luxury you would expect of a hotel of this calibre, and a very funky phone and a heavenly bed. Exceptional toiletries. And most appreciated of all – very fast and complementary wireless access at the comfortable desk. Yes, we could work in luxury, we could have great room service, we could look out over the leafy city landscape, and the city’s main shopping area is on the doorstep. This is a dream location! Then we had a friendly member of staff deliver some chocolate goodies to us just after we had settled into this great bedroom. The whole experience was quite different, even to us who are used to checking into hotels all over the world. We were hooked!DINING AT DYLAN
We did spot a few well-known faces coming through the doors during our stay, and when we went for dinner we found first of all the bar was really buzzing. We went straight through to our table and began with a couple of great cocktails. Excellent chef at work here, the menu was inspired. Delicately seared fresh tuna was a highlight. Each dish arrived beautifully presented and we had a fabulous meal. There is a tasting menu for those with large adventurous appetites, but plenty of choices on the A-La-Carte that kept us happy.Breakfast was delicious, my companion having an early appointment, breakfasted early, while I availed of the high-speed internet access in the room to get some research done and ordered room-service later. Freshly made fruit smoothie, followed by a spinach and cheese omelette and green tea was a perfect mid-morning repast.
I was loath to leave this hotel a couple of hours later. But when the time came my valet-parked car was brought to the door, and as always the service was memorable. The staff/guest ratio is high at dylan (yes this hotel is so trendy that it is all lower case), so that service is exceptionally good. But there are quite a number of things that are special about this new kid on the block in Dublin’s hotel scene. We especially loved the 7th heaven beds (so comfortable that they cocoon you in perfect restful sleep); the mood-lighting; demisting mirror in the bathroom; and of course the chocolate iced buns delivered to our room on arrival by the Welcome Manager! Perhaps most interesting of all is the “his” and “hers” bath menus. Hers comes with a glass of champagne with strawberries and rose petals; and his with a glass of Middleton Very Rare whiskey or glass of Baron Patrick Brandy. Now that’s decadent! Menus are something of a speciality at dylan, with a movie menu on offer also which includes hot butter popcorn, Coco-Cola and Haagen-Dazs ice-cream. Something for everybody’s fancy!
This is a real boutique hotel and was a definite hit with the Hotel Reviews Ireland team.
