A bad experience at a Hilton Hotel in Dublin recently came in to us from Sharon Leahy who said" The Hilton Clare Hall Dublin is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I booked for 4 nights but int he end left onthe 3rd night and booked into another hotel for the last night. The staff are extremely rude with no customer service skills at all and the food is second class in all but price. The room is also not up to standard."
A more positive review from Rhona in Westmeath: "Having won a break through your website, I finally went to Kilronan Castle Estate & Spa last week and will definitely be going back. It was fabulous. I had just finished exams and was wrecked so it was heaven. I had a friend whose birthday was on Wednesday and none of her family could have been with her being midweek so my hubby kindly yielded up his place to her. It worked out better as he would be more impatient in the spa whereas we relished it and had 2 treatments each. Dinner was amazing and we hated leaving. From the moment we looked out our bedroom window at the glorious views of the lake, the magic of Kilronan began. While there are many places to go and things to do in the environs, my companion and I decided that we were going to abandon the car and immerse ourselves in the delights of the hotel itself. Lovely walks in its vast acreage were followed by time in the spa - top class treatments and the luxurious thermal suite which rivals any spa I have visited here and abroad. Dinner was superb with an excellent reasonably priced wine list and after a deep sleep, a wonderful breakfast spread - prunes with cinnamon and star anise flavours being a particular highlight. Kilronan was hard to find but worth the effort." Rhona, Westmeath. May 2011
I recently stayed in the Gresham Hotel, O'Connell Street with my Mother and two sisters, we had two twin rooms. Despite being on the fourth floor of a four star hotel, we were kept awake by a Debs in the Ballroom until 2am. I was even able to recognise the songs that were being played. We were later kept awake until 6am by the Debutants who were staying in the room next to us and admittedly we were at fault in not calling the night porter. What really enraged us was that when my Sister complained a few days later she was told that there was no function in the Hotel on that night!!!!!!!! So we are all liars! Not worth the money will not be going back for our annual get together! Mary, Wicklow
We spent three nights recently in the Royal Marine, our second visit to this hotel this year. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and filled in our Comment card. People make one's stay. We appreciate convivial staff who make an effort to communicate with us. Reception in the Royal marine, though efficient, lacks warmth, mainly due to the lack of personality, unlike the hotel's Concierge, who could not be friendlier, or the Spa's staff, who were courtesy personified. Friendliness has always been the hallmark of Irish hospitality. We look forward to our next stay. The food is excellent, the Spa enjoyable and the walks around the two Piers healthy and bracing. Thank you to all who made our stay worthwhile Finbarr O' Connor, Oldcastle, Co. Meath
I stayed in the Westgrove Hotel for one night and was pleasantly surprised by the spacious, modern hotel with fantastic facilities. The receptionist was effecient and very professional. Food in the bar was well presented and full of flavour. PJ the manager on duty was extremely effecient and very friendly. He had the ability to chat to all guests and yet not be overpowering. I will certainly be back and this time avail of the Spa. Keep up the good work. Paula Brennan, September 09.
Must say our stay in Maol Reidh in Renvyle in County Galway was one of the highlights of our trip recently , most welcoming, great food, Lovely spacious room, very homely atmosphere. I would highly recommend it However, Had a dreadful experience recently when staying at the Wyatt where the room my Wife and I ( both in our seventies) were accommodated, seemed to be directly over the PARTY ROOM where a birthday party was taking place that night You can imagine my state of mind next morning, having spent the night in what I described as a WAR ZONE. The reaction from management was to take the price of a meal € 25 from the bill €200. What a disappointment after all the hype from friends. BJB Dublin
