HOTEL HORRORS!

The discussion has been going on for some weeks now through various social media, and there are a lot of interesting things coming to the surface.  Hotel owners should take note!  From no tea-making facilities in the room, to hard pillows and windows that don't open to dirty bedlinnen and dirtier bathrooms.  The lists are endless, and some stories we have been hearing about would make you not want to leave your house!  With all our talk about great hospitality, there are some real Basil Faulty experiences going on in hotels as we speak.  My fear is that with all the cut backs and price reductions, the service and product delivery is just going to get shoddier.  We have seen the signs already.  Hotel breakfasts are not what they once were.  Fresh fruit salads and warm baked breads are disappearing and the dreaded Bain Marie pays host to tired basic breakfast staples.  Eggs Benedict or a freshly made omellette are but a dream these days, or else you will pay a large supplement for one in some five star hotels.
But whatever about breakfast woes, the housekeeping downgrading is totally unacceptable.  I once had an argument about a bed I was supposed to sleep in which had very obviously not been changed since the last occupent had left it!  This was in a very expensive hotel on the other side of the Atlantic, but the memory lives on.  I won the argument of course, and stood over them as they changed the linen.  It is worth noting what is going on, both the good and the bad in these "challanging times within the industry".  Please share you experiences and thoughts on this.
