Tourism Ireland have been promoting their marketing plan for 2011...

Tourism Ireland have been promoting their marketing plan for 2011, 'Focus On Growth' throughout the country this week.  Confident that their message will reach in excess of 200 million people, CEO Niall Gibbons stated that "2011 will be a turning point in getting us back to the path to growth."
The tourism body will continue to promote in 23 markets overseas including Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, the Nordics, Canada, Australia, India and China.  However their major marketing effort wil focus on Great Britain, the United States, Germany and France.    Great Britain accounts for over 50% of overseas visitors and 35% of revenue.  However, with the downturn in the UK economy, coupled with the constant negative news coming from Ireland in the media in the past number of months, it remains to be seen if Ireland will enjoy the upturn in tourism that they are predicting.
