While it is now just twenty minutes from the City Centre, this hotel by the sea in South County Dublin always felt to me a world away from the hustle and bustle of city life.  When Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel opened its doors in the early 70’s it rapidly became the hotel of choice for those of us who grew up in the area. A handful of friend’s weddings, several family celebrations and many dinners, meetings and parties took place within those castle walls. Over the years the hotel has continued to grow in popularity with the local and wider community and has become one of Dublin’s favourite hotels.

We visited again recently as they celebrate 40 years as a hotel and were delighted to see it buzzing with guests of all ages enjoying Sunday lunch, afternoon tea, and indeed family celebrations once again as a Christening party was taking place. While our expectations of the hospitality industry have grown substantially since the 70’s, Fitzpatrick Castle has continued to excel, and we had a really lovely stay there.  We were also delighted to see that the AIRCOACH now leaves from the hotel with regular trips to Dublin Airport.
