The cocktail waitress was a perfectionist. It was a joy to watch her mix those Mojitos and the Martini was the absolute best I have come across this side of the Atlantic. Were we back in the Buddha Bar in New York? No, we were in the heart of Dublin's Temple Bar, in the coolest hotel in town. We were in The Morgan. Style without substance is no good, and some hotels try to be funky and quirky but end up looking foolish. We have visited so many hotels that just don't deliver on their promise of a great experience, and in fact it is unusual to find one that does. But The Morgan did. We loved it. Loved our bedroom, the tapas, the location, the cool style, the friendly service and that cocktail bar. ACCOMMODATION AT THE MORGANThe hotel has 121 bedrooms, which I was surprised to learn as it felt like a smaller boutique hotel. We were on the second floor only minutes away from the reception using the naughty Mona Lisa lift. The room was bright and fresh and totally cool. It was all silver and white, with a huge free-standing mirror (there are several of these around the hotel) a window that actually opened, luxury robes and bed linen, a big silver wardrobe, mini bar, desk area, good lighting, complementary internet access, TV, CD player and all the essentials plus a few extras. We also had a perfect bathroom with bath and great power-shower, lots of fluffy towels and most important, good lighting. I also liked the way we had a turn down service while we were at dinner and extra towels were left for the morning. |
