Whites of Wexford has been around for as long as I remember, in fact the site dates back to 1795, but the new WOW is something else altogether! Driving up to the big glass foyer sets the tone for a hotel that has spacious grandeur stamped all over it. Very friendly greeting at reception, free underground parking, all the modern luxury and comfort you could want in the rooms, and spectacular views. At least from the 5th floor, where we stayed the views were brilliant. The Restaurant – we had a dinner reservation at the Courtyard where the menu was tempting and service was impeccable. Salade Nicoise came with freshly seared tuna, venison was rich and tender and salmon was soft and succulent! One other thing that impressed us was the wine list, some excellent wines here. We opted for a fruitful Chilean red. Desserts were fabulous too, my only complaint is that they were too big and we failed to polish them off! We did visit the Wexford Club, where the gym has all the latest hi-tech machinery, a 20 metre pool, sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi. We planned to use it before breakfast, but actually slept so soundly in our beds after the dinner the night before that we woke up late! A look around the Serenity Spa was promising, and a return visit to sample some of the relaxing therapies is promised. The lighting is particularly soothing here, and a lovely air of calm abounds – Serenity Spa is aptly named! Of course it is the Cryo Unit which is the most unique aspect of this spa. It is the only one of its kind in Ireland or the UK and it stimulates the body via a three-room cryochamber with progressively low temperatures; -10, -60 and -110 We peeked into the icy interior as we were told that clients can avail of rehabilitation programmes for all types of musculoskeletal injuries and disorders and the Unit can help reduce the pain of illnesses such as arthritis. It is apparently proving very popular with footballers as it is considered to be the most important breakthrough in sports injury treatment available anywhere in Western Europe! This is going to be a big attraction for Whites. We finished off our visit with a long leisurely breakfast, followed by a walk around the little shopping streets of Wexford town. The location of Whites is just perfect for exploring the shops and sights and then heading back to that luxurious lounge for a morning coffee before leaving town. We loved the new-look Whites, corporate business is obviously going to be highly popular here with their spacious facilities and leisure is certainly catered for too. With free broadband in the bedrooms, along with plasma screen television, you can do the business at Whites and enjoy yourself in comfort.
