Why Stay Here?

  • Wonderfully scenic location on the shores of Dingle Bay
  • Outstanding service and very family-friendly
  • Excellent Peninsula Spa and best outdoor hot-tub ever!

The drive from Inch Strand to Dingle Bay along the peninsula in West Kerry is one of the most dramatically stunning roads in the country.  The sun was shining on the sparkling sea and bright green fields as I drove across the Kerry mountains to visit the very popular Dingle Skellig Hotel and Peninsula Spa.
The hotel sits very comfortably in this spectacular landscape.  For years it has been a favourite with visitors from far and near and it seems to continue to delight guests well into the increasingly-demanding present day.  It began life back in 1965 catering for the needs of the cast and crew of Ryan’s Daughter, when that film was being shot in the area.

CHILD FRIENDLY HOTEL

What impressed me when I arrived was the family-friendly atmosphere and it was obvious that with all the activities for children, together with child-minding facilities that this was an ideal venue for many Irish families.  Unique to any hotel that calls itself “child friendly” that I have visited over the years, Dingle Skellig Hotel actually has a Registered Creche where parents can leave their babies and toddlers in complete safety and security while they explore the serenity of the Peninsula Spa, a round of golf or enjoy a quiet drink in the Blaskets Bar.  For slightly older children there is the Fungi Kids Club and of course there is a fully equipped Leisure Club with a designated Children’s Pool.  So, from babies to teenagers there is something to keep the whole family happy – that means the parents are relaxed too.

PENINSULA SPA

The Peninsula Spa is a real haven of tranquillity as it is cleverly situated away from the Leisure Centre and other busy areas of activity in the hotel.  It also enjoys the most breath-taking views over the Atlantic from both the relaxation room and the magical outdoor hot-tub.  A full menu of Yon-Ka Facial and Body treatments, Hydrotherapy, Massage, Holistic & Sport Therapies and Tanning & Beauty treatments are all available.
I enjoyed a very relaxing hot stone massage, which lasted all of 90 minutes and by using basalt stones the warmth of the treatment really penetrated my muscles.  For people like me who spend so much time either in the car or at the desk, it is vital to get a good massage regularly to loosen out the shoulders.  There is no doubt that using the hot stones really enriches that experience.
The Relaxation Room is glass fronted looking out over the ocean with access to the hot-tub, and with magazines, newspapers, fruit and chilled water; it is somewhere you can while away for as long as you like after treatments.  It was blissfully quiet the day I was there, and I had full access to the Thermal Area and I shared the space with just one other lady.  She, like me, was relishing the pampering and tranquillity of this very lovely Spa.
