  • Golfing Heaven
  • Space, Spa & Serenity
  • Business, Family and even Dog Friendly!

Driving up to the Blarney Golf Resort took in some of the most unspoilt countryside not far from Cork City. We loved the sense of space and quietness and as soon as we entered the hotel, we were struck by the sight and sent of vases of fresh flowers throughout the building.
The same sense of space exists throughout the design of the hotel and suites, and cleaver use is made of natural light. Our room had a balcony, which delighted my smoking friend, and a full size desk and free internet connection which I was delighted with. There were a number of things that particularly pleased us at this hotel, and obviously the golf facilities were second-to-none.
Stay and Play, they encouraged us. And indeed we did. Leaving our spacious and comfortable room aside, we loved the contemporary décor of the Inniscarra Restaurant.

DINING AT BLARNEY GOLF RESORT

The beautifully appointed dining room was full of the scent of fresh lilies and the unusual lighting and clever use of natural light made it a perfect restaurant setting. And then we got very impressed with the wine list!
With excellent choices from across the globe, choosing some of the best from Old and New worlds, this is a great wine list. But we had to choose the John Daly Cabernet/Merlot, 2003 from South Africa. Why did we choose this one? One reason is that this wine is unique to Blarney Golf Resort, and of course this is the same John Daly who designed their golf course and the same John Daly who won the US PGA Championship in 1991, and the British Open at St Andrews in 1995.
Blarney Golf Resort is the only John Daly Signature Golf Course outside the US. And his wine is excellent too! Our dinner choices of lamb and duck respectively were both well complimented by this great wine.
As we took a stroll later on we came across the suites which are just a short distance from the main hotel itself. These self-catering lodges are a great idea for families or business guests who want to have a bit of space to themselves. My companion, being a life-long animal lover, was delighted to learn that these lodges are pet friendly too, and even come with a basket and dog treats so that the family pet can come and stay too! While this facility is more common in the UK, it is not found very often in Ireland. What a great idea, we thought, no more kennels for man’s best friend on the next visit!
THE SPA AT BLARNEY GOLF RESORT
I had enjoyed a visit to the Spa and Leisure Centre before dinner where they have a full range of treatments for both men and women. With the lovely Yon Ka product range there is a choice of facials, massage, wraps and body treatments including my favourite – the hot stone massage. Then I spent a while availing of the Jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and pool, which I had almost to myself. It was spotlessly clean and very refreshing and the perfect way to work up an appetite for diner. I noticed a large gym with plenty of exercise equipment, but dinner time was fast approaching!
To avail of all the facilities at Blarney Golf Resort, you would really need to stay a few days. In fact, we decided that it would be an excellent location for a short break. You can get all your work done at your desk, take in some excellent golf, walking, swimming, and spoil yourself with a treatment at the Spa. Oh yes, and you can bring the pooch!
What’s to do in the area?

Golf is top of the list at Ramada Blarney. The 18 hole, 72 par course is set in the Shournagh Valley, sloping down initially and then across the gradient towards the end. Plenty of challenges await you including two 5 par holes, but not too daunting for the novice.

The 18th Tee leads you nicely into @The Lions Den@ where you can relax and enjoy a bite to eat, perhaps a barbeque, followed by drinks on the Terrace.

Nearby attractions include the historic town of Blarney which is renowned for the Blarney Stone, Blarney Castle and the Woolen Mills.

Cork City also boasts many attractions – theatres, shops, museums, restaurants and bars. Fishing, walking and equestrian facilities are also available.

Full details of local attractions from the reception at the hotel.
