Flights to Carcassonne from Ireland
It is easy and cheap to fly to Carcassonne from Ireland. You are on the doorstep of a wonderful world of food, wine and skiing. We went truffle hunting with the mayor of a local village and his dog! We toured local vineyards and tasted Minervois and Corbieres wines. We visited local markets selling wonderful cheeses and artisan foods.
Accommodation
We stayed in a luxurious suite and walked out onto cobbled streets with little boutiques and magic views. We felt we were in a magical world of knights and the Holy Grail and beautiful damsels! We had dinner one night in the hotel’s Wine Cellar and another night in the Michelin-starred la Barbacane. Both were feasts fit for royalty, and it is no surprise that this hotel attract gourmands from throughout the country.
Hotel Facilities
We enjoyed the outdoor heated swimming pool – weather does get quite cool at night – and we played tennis and went horse riding in the nearby countryside. Other attractions are golf and the hotel’s private barge for short trips along the nearby Canal du Midi. Next time we will book a barge cruise and maybe even a cookery course in the wonderful kitchens. A magic hotel, truly romantic and unlike anywhere we ever stayed before!
